Con ben poca sorpresa, The Last of Us si è portato il titolo di Game of the Year in occasione della cerimonia di premiazione dei D.I.C.E. Awards 2013, alla quale il titolo targato Naughty Dog è arrivato con ben 13 nomination.
Arrivati alla loro diciassettesima edizione, gli “Oscar del videogioco” (anche se questa qualifica viene accostata praticamente a qualsiasi premio ci sia in giro nell’industria videoludica) sono stati presentati da Felicia Day e Freddie Wong, che hanno annunciato i premi stabiliti dall’Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS).
Mentre The Last of Us si è portato a casa ben dieci premi, anche Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time e BioShock Infinite sono riusciti a conquistare più di un premio, strappandone una coppia. Nella stessa cerimonia, Dan e Sam Houser, insieme a Leslie Benzies sono stati inseriti ufficialmente nella Hall of Fame AIAS.
