Come ogni anno, anche per questa edizione del 2009 sono stati assegnati i Golden Joystick Awards, i prestigiosi premi dell’industria videoludica votati dai lettori di alcune tra le più famose testate online e cartacee, che quest’anno hanno superato la soglia dei 1.200.000 votanti.
La palma di GOTY 2009 va al previsto Fallout 3, mentre Activision vince ancora una volta il premio di miglior publisher. Migliori titoli PlayStation, Xbox e Nintendo rispettivamente Killzone 2, Gears of War 2 e Call of Duty: World at War.
