A distanza di 24 anni dalla sua fondazione avvenuta nel 1988, il team di sviluppo Eurocom ha chiuso i battenti. Lo studio con base a Derby aveva già dato segnali lo scorso mese tagliando 150 posti di lavoro, restando con soli 50 dipendenti dopo l’uscita di 007 Legends.
Dopo che i vertici hanno tentato invano in tutti i modi di salvare la società, come ci viene descritto da MCV, anche questi ultimi “sopravvissuti” sono stati licenziati, ufficializzando così la chiusura del team il cui primo lavoro risale al lontano 1991, con Magician per NES.
Proprio alla piattaforma Nintendo e alle sue eredi, Eurocom è stata legata nel corso degli anni, pur espandendosi poi ad altre console e al mercato PC. Dopo aver realizzato diverse conversioni da arcade a console, Eurocom ha sviluppato diversi titoli sotto licenza come Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, James Bond 007 e Batman Begins.
Proprio all’agente segreto britannico è stata dedicata l’ultima fatica di Eurocom: si tratta del già citato 007 Legends. Di seguito, come ce li ricorda Wikipedia, tutti i titoli di Eurocom:
